CB Mic Update
Got the standard 4 pin CB mic today, and it works as expected without needing power. This will be good enough for the first run of my experimental box. Now I am waiting on the single board computer and the microphone connectors. So far we are looking good at beating the price of the other adapters!
- CB mic - $30 ( Ham Radio Store )
- USB Hub - $5 ( Amazon Sale )
- USB sound card - $8 ( Amazon sale )
- Single Board Computer - $10 ( Adafruit )
- Cables - $3 ( Adafruit )
$56 so far , vs $120 for the adapter or $350 for the button box with CB mic built in.
NOTE : Although I try to get the cheapest prices on parts , where possible I buy parts from Adafruit. It may take longer to get and/or be more expensive but it's worth it to know that I am supporting a company I can believe in and that supports the maker community in all aspects of their work.
It breaks down like this :
- Reward Points
- Sales / Flash sales
- Adafruit
- Amazon
- Ebay / Offerup / Swap meet / etc
- Other on line store
- Local Store
Please note that local store is last because I am disabled and can not get around to local stores easily or they are not ADA friendly. Also Fry's closed, and we don't have a microcenter.
